ARWAP - Asylum Seekers and Refugees with a Purpose Inc.

Our objective is to support asylum seekers and refugees in detention centres and camps and to empower them with purposes to join and participate positively and actively in the community. This object can be accomplished by the following proposed activities;

1. To visit asylum seekers and refugees in detention centres. 

2. To organise educational programmes, seminars, workshops and conferences for asylum seekers and refugees in detention centres, camps and in the community. 

3. To organise fundraising to support asylum seekers and refugees. 

4. To provide training programs and an environment for artistic activities for asylum seekers and refugees in visual, performing and creative arts drawn from their own or other cultures. To provide this as a relief from trauma as well as a way to discover and identify their interests and talents in the respective fields of art. Moreover, art can be used as a way of communication and expressing their story and experiences with the public.

5. To publish books and produce audio visual documentaries about asylum seekers and refugees’ life stories. With their consent, these documentaries will be released to media.

6. To assist asylum seekers and refugees in preparing their resume.

7. To assist asylum seekers and refugees in furthering their education and also with Training and Further Education (TAFE).

8. To assist asylum seekers and refugees in applying for jobs.

9. To set up small businesses for refugees that are unable to find jobs in the community. They can be involved in the ownership, management and/or be employed in these businesses.

10. To support asylum seekers and refugees to connect and build a network with the government, religious, educational and charity organizations.
